CBS News returns to Twitter after brief hiatus

CBS News returned to Twitter Sunday, after suspending its own accounts on Friday in light of recent events.
Its hiatus lasted just over 40 hours, with the first tweet on its news account including a link to the Colorado Springs nightclub shooting. There seemed to be no major loss in its over 8.8 million-strong following between Friday and Sunday.
“After pausing for much of the weekend to assess the security concerns, CBS News and Stations is resuming its activity on Twitter as we continue to monitor the situation,” its press team tweeted Sunday.

CBS NEWS TEMPORARILY LEAVES TWITTER ‘IN LIGHT OF THE UNCERTAINTY’
Its tweet echoed its first statement announcing the hiatus, which was delivered by national correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti on Friday.
“In light of the uncertainty around Twitter and out of an abundance of caution, CBS News is pausing its activity on the social media site as it continues to monitor the platform,” Vigliotti said.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk responded to the tweet with an emoji that was appears to be laughing while covering its mouth.

Friday’s airing of CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell covered the social media platform current transition under Musk, including a mass resignation of Twitter engineers who were fired as a result of not signing a pledge imposed by their new CEO. Musk issued a memo late Tuesday informing employees that they had to sign a pledge to stay with the company and work “long hours at high intensity.”
