Washington Examiner economics columnist Tiana Lowe Doescher argued that democratic socialism will eventually fade out despite consistent wins in states across the country.
“There’s a time limit for how long you can bankroll this locally,” Doescher said on Fox News’s Fox News @ Night on Friday.
Democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D-NY) said he is creating city-run grocery stores, and also promised free childcare, which is expected to roll out city-wide within four years, according to New York City’s official website, and free public transportation.
Doescher said that “Mamdani is lucky because New York is New York, and even if he screws up New York City royally, it will always have Wall Street, it will always have Broadway.”
She argued that places like Chicago, however, are struggling.
“[Mayor Brandon Johnson]’s running out of money and time,” Doescher said.
Johnson has faced criticism over budget gaps, and what he called a “revenue challenge.”
Doescher said there is a “flight of wealth” in blue states, where the wealthy are fleeing to states like Texas and Florida.

“At a certain point, they leave,” Doescher said.
“We don’t have in living memory the real consequences of communism like a lot of our grandparents did.”
