The City of New York is making it abundantly clear that it cares more about the well-being of illegal immigrants than that of their own citizens.
The latest episode took place in Brooklyn, where the city decided to force students enrolled at James Madison High School to attend school online so they could house illegal immigrants in the school.
The city was supposedly concerned that a massive rainstorm was going to damage a large tent shelter set up for the thousands of illegal immigrants that had been bussed to New York City and decided that the school was the most appropriate shelter.
The cost? No in-person school for New York students who are already trying to overcome catastrophic learning loss after the city (with the help of the teachers union) closed down schools during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s unconscionable. The leadership of New York City has decided it is going to prioritize the wellbeing of a group of people who have shown a blatant disregard for the rule of law of this country while actively harming the wellbeing of New York’s hardworking taxpayers.
And New Yorkers are fed up with it.
One mother heckled the parade of illegal immigrants as they entered the school, according to the New York Post. “How does it feel that you kicked all the kids out of school tomorrow? Does it feel good? I hope you feel good. I hope you will sleep very well tonight!”
It’s hard not to sympathize with her frustration.

This is an ongoing pattern of disdain for native New Yorkers by their leaders. Over the summer, the city forced hotels to house illegal immigrants and overwhelmed a public school system with thousands of migrant children.
New York City’s students cannot afford to miss more days of in-person classes. Yet again, the city government has put the needs of students last. If the city cared about making sure students were able to attend school in person without disruptions, they would shelter illegal immigrants at city office buildings and take the consequences on themselves.
