Biden’s cowardly interns

It would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic and alarming. A group of “more than 40” White House interns leaked a letter sent to President Joe Biden demanding a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
The letter begins, “We, the undersigned,” but there are no signatures. It’s anonymous. Instead, the signature line reads “40+ White House & EOP Interns for Palestine,” and “EOP” stands for “Executive Office of the President.” Then, there is a laundry list of offices for which the interns work, including the “Office of Clean Energy Innovation and Implementation,” that closes with “And other White House offices who wish to remain anonymous.”

That these overprivileged interns thought anyone would care what they thought just because they worked in the White House, while still lacking the conviction of their beliefs to attach their names to the letter, is pathetic.
Not that interns shouldn’t be allowed to voice opinions. Here at the Washington Examiner, we are proud of our intern program, which allows our interns to begin voicing their opinions from day one. But they also have their bylines attached to everything they write. That is how adults operate.
Weighing in at four paragraphs, the letter is not terribly substantive and just repeats the same terrorist-sympathizing boilerplate that has become standard for Democratic Party staff. And that is the alarming part. These interns are not alone in apologizing for Hamas terrorism or believing that anyone cares about their anonymous musings.
These cowardly Biden interns are only following in the footsteps of fully adult Democratic staff at the State Department, the Democratic National Committee, and the White House. The Biden administration’s position on Israel either violates your conscience, or it doesn’t. Either shut up and work for the principal or resign. This attempt to have it both ways is pitiful.

However, it does appear a sea change is coming to the Democratic Party at the staff level. The letter falsely asserts that the public doesn’t stand with Israel. But it is increasingly clear the privileged class that staffs Democratic administrations doesn’t believe Israel should exist.
And that should worry everyone.
