“We are in an era of maximum warfare everywhere, all the time.” — House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies (D-NY), April 26, 2026, one day after a third assassination attempt on President Donald Trump’s life.

“[Trump] cannot see public office again. He is not only unfit, he is destructive to our democracy, and he has to be eliminated.” — Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) on Nov. 20, 2023.

“They’re still going to have to go out and put a bullet in Donald Trump.” — Lincoln Project co-founder Rick Wilson, Oct. 27, 2015.

“You get up in the morning, and you doom scroll through things, although I will say this, the last few days you woke up thinking there might be news. Just saying, just saying, there will be news sometime, just so you know, there will be news.” — Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) on the prospect of waking up to news that Trump is dead.

“‘Never before in my life have I called for mass protest disruptions. These Republicans cannot know a MOMENT of peace.” — Gov. JB Pritzker (D-IL), April 28, 2025.

“We will not take this s*** from Donald Trump. He thinks he’s a dictator. We are at war!” —Rep. Monica McIver (D-NJ), Feb 5. 2025.

“We’re in a war right now to save this country. And so you have to be willing to do whatever is necessary in order to save the country.” — Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), Sept. 10, 2025.

“Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow.” — ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel, April 24, 2026.

There are scores of other examples, but we’ve got finite column space here. Bottom line without ambiguity: Democrats have not stepped back even one inch from their reckless rhetoric in tacitly providing the kind of maniacs who take words such as “eliminate” Trump and making the first lady a widow, quite literally, as marching orders.

For context, try to name even one other country on the planet where three assassination attempts have occurred against its most prominent politician or leader. It doesn’t exist. But here we are, in the span of just 21 months, where three attempts against President Donald Trump have occurred, including one in Butler, Pennsylvania, where his ear was grazed by a bullet only because he turned to look at a chart at the precise time that bullet was coming directly for his head.

The third assassination attempt, of course, occurred this past weekend at a venue that should have been the most secure in the world: The Washington Hilton for the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. This attempt was especially disturbing because, since Trump’s second inauguration, how many members of the president’s Cabinet have been in one public place at the same time as seen this past Saturday night?

JOE CONCHA: THE PRESS DECLARE WAR ON TRUMP AHEAD OF THE WHCA DINNER

All told, in attendance were Trump, the first lady, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who is more than eight months pregnant, among others. Yet, a crazed gunman was somehow able to get into the building with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives, and ran through a security checkpoint before being stopped and arrested by the Secret Service not far from the main ballroom.

The shooter’s manifesto called Trump a “rapist,” a “pedophile,” and a “traitor” who needed to be “tried for high crimes.” If that sounds very familiar, given the sentiment coming from Democrats and their allies in the media, it should.

On cue, calls for “both sides” to tone down the rhetoric have been echoed throughout legacy media and cable news. But here’s a question: Given the three assassination attempts on Trump, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the beating of Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) at his home that left him hospitalized with broken ribs and lung damage, the firebombing of Tesla dealerships in 2025, and the shooting at a Republican baseball practice that nearly took Rep. Steve Scalise’s (R-LA) life in 2017 carried out by a Bernie Sanders supporter, the violence appears to be mostly a one-way street against conservatives and/or Trump and his supporters.

No matter: The Left wears this violent rhetoric as a badge of honor. Example: The aforementioned Hakeem Jeffries was asked about his “maximum warfare” declaration he made last week, and if he will work to lower the temperature following the assassination attempt at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.

“I stand by it. … I don’t give a damn about your criticism!” he angrily retorted.

Jeffries should be censured. Full stop. This is beyond unacceptable for a leader of the Democratic Party not only to make these kinds of statements, but also to stand firm on them shortly after another attempt on the president’s life.

Wajahat Ali, a former op-ed writer for the New York Times and CNN contributor, is somehow even worse.

“We’re like, motherf****er, just die,” he posted on X on Monday. “Just let the grim reaper come in and take you from your cankles. I think people are sick and tired.”

The same goes for Jimmy Kimmel, who is most definitely not a comedian but an activist like Hasan Piker with an ABC logo next to him. His line that Melania Trump has “a glow like an expectant widow” absolutely was referring to his sick hope that Trump is dead soon. There is no ambiguity. But instead of apologizing, as any human being with a shred of dignity would, he also doubled down.

“I agree hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject. I think a great place to start, to dial that back, would be a conversation with your husband!” Kimmel said defiantly after Melania Trump issued a statement calling on ABC to “take a stand” against the host’s “hateful and violent rhetoric.”

“It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination!” Kimmel added. “It was a very light roast joke about the fact that he’s almost 80 and she’s younger than I am!”

So, if that’s the explanation behind the “joke,” where was this kind of so-called humor during the Biden years? Jill Biden is nearly 10 years younger than Joe Biden, who we all can safely say isn’t aging remotely as well as Trump. Did Kimmel, even once, refer to Jill Biden as an expectant widow?

Rhetorical question.

Know this: This likely will not be the last attempt on the president’s life. Nobody on the Left appears especially interested in establishing the kind of civility we witnessed between President Ronald Reagan and Democratic House Speaker Tip O’Neill in the 80s or even President Bill Clinton and Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the 90s.

To underscore this, a 2025 survey by Rutgers University found that “over half of those who self-identified as left of center (55.2%) reported that if someone murdered Donald Trump, they would be at least somewhat justified.”

JOE CONCHA: DEMOCRATS’ SOCIALIST TURN IS A GOP ELECTORAL COLLEGE DREAM

Think about that. A majority of those on the Left believe that murdering a sitting president is somewhat justified. Democratic lawmakers see these kinds of numbers and believe that screaming “maximum warfare” and comparing Trump to Hitler and his administration to Nazis gives their base the rhetoric it craves.

The United States is at a breaking point as we approach May of 2026.

Violent and reckless oratory only gets rewarded. Even praised.

There may be no going back.

The president was almost assassinated on Saturday night. Again.

But instead of unity, the hatred from many on the Blue Team only appears to be getting stronger.
