Democrat politician kills wife, gun control groups blame the gun

.

Gun control groups will always blame law-abiding gun owners for gun deaths, even when the killings are committed by the very kind of Democratic politicians that those groups support.

Former Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, a Democrat whose political ambitions were erased after he faced sexual assault allegations, was found dead Thursday morning along with his wife. Police say that Fairfax committed a murder-suicide as the two were going through a messy divorce, which included Fairfax falsely accusing his wife of abusing him. Fairfax was likely to be the Democratic nominee for governor in 2021 until the sexual assault allegations two years earlier tanked his political career.

Gun control groups will never miss an opportunity to parade corpses to push their agenda, and this was no exception. Brady: United Against Gun Violence, one of the oldest gun control groups in the country, took this opportunity to call for more restrictions on gun ownership.

In a social media post, the group posted the following: “This is horrific. A woman is shot and killed by a husband or male dating partner every 16 hours in the U.S. We must do more to address easy access to  gun (sic), keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and protect women.”

Gun control groups like Brady got exactly the gun restrictions they wanted in Virginia when Fairfax was in office. Fairfax himself was the tiebreaking vote on Virginia’s red flag law, which evidently didn’t do anything to stop him from owning a gun despite a series of red flags around his own behavior as of late. Fairfax was a gun control zealot as well, constantly demanding new ways to restrict law-abiding gun owners from acquiring or owning guns.

So, we have a case where police say that a gun control-obsessed former Democratic politician shoots and kills his wife (and then himself), and Brady demands that more gun control policies be foisted on everyone else as a result. The exact type of politician that organizations like Brady support is accused of committing a gun crime, and Brady’s response is to exploit it to continue to push its agenda.

It’s a particularly twisted version of what gun control groups do every time there is a high-profile crime. They quickly try to exploit the tragedy to push policies that would not have changed anything, and do so before the bodies are even cold. It is a ghoulish activist model, and it is even more jarring when they are trying to exploit a murder committed by a member of their own political team for the same purpose.
