In addition to TikTok, Hogan’s directive included the removal of other Chinese- and Russian-influenced products and platforms.
“There may be no greater threat to our personal safety and our national security than the cyber vulnerabilities that support our daily lives,” Hogan said in a statement. “To further protect our systems, we are issuing this emergency directive against foreign actors and organizations that seek to weaken and divide us.”
On Tuesday, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and other lawmakers representing Wisconsin sent a letter to Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) calling for TikTok’s removal from state devices.

Arkansas state Sen. Gary Stubblefield (R) joined the cause Monday and filed a bill to ban the app from state-owned devices.
The directives follow FBI Director Christopher Wray’s warning that TikTok is a threat to national security.
