Academia wants to exploit Jason Arday’s death to block further scrutiny

.

Left-wing academics want to exploit the apparent suicide of disgraced Cambridge University professor Jason Arday to shield all other left-wing academics from any scrutiny over their shoddy academic records or fabricated life stories.

The international scientific journal Nature joined in the chorus of blaming the media for Arday’s death, with an editorial titled “The death of Jason Arday must prompt deep reflection.” In it, Nature says the “persistent” media coverage of Arday’s scandals was “pervaded” by racism and that the 242 published by British newspapers were racist, and implies that media should adhere to a standard where they stop pursuing a story if the subject of the story asks them to “desist.”

IN JASON ARDAY, HIGHER EDUCATION MANUFACTURED THE PERFECT DEI MARTYR

Left-wing nonprofit groups and politicians in the United Kingdom are now demanding legislative limits on how many articles can be published by the press about a particular individual and further censorship of content that may be “racist” or “ableist.” They all believe that Arday was only targeted because he was black and autistic (or, at least, that is what they want everyone else to believe).

The reality is that Arday only reached the academic heights he did because he was a black and autistic DEI hire that Cambridge could boast was the youngest black professor in its history. He was credibly accused of plagiarism and fabricating elements of his life story, including hate crimes against him. When one journalist began looking into this, Arday sicced the police on him.

Now, the left-wing progressive alliance in the U.K. wants you to believe that the academic misconduct and professional fraud of a professor at Cambridge is not newsworthy enough to lead to enhanced scrutiny. They think that anyone from an “oppressed” identity category should not be scrutinized because they may kill themselves, as Arday did. None of them will outright state the argument, but it goes something like this: ‘If you ever investigate the qualifications of a black progressive professor, he or she may kill themselves, so you should not be allowed to do so.’

It is all a convenient way to get around the fact that someone such as Arday was an academic mediocrity (as all professors of left-wing DEI subjects are) elevated based on his identity and ideology. Academia is full of Ardays (see plagiarist former Harvard president Claudine Gay), and thus progressives want to scare media away from any future critical coverage by throwing Arday’s body at their feet and arguing that such coverage is akin to the media “lynching” black academics.
