EXCLUSIVE — The Republican National Committee raised $19.4 million in July, ending the month with $130.3 million on hand, the highest amount in committee history, according to figures first shared with the Washington Examiner.
The RNC has ended the last three months with more money in its coffers, consistently breaking party records as the GOP hopes to retain control of both chambers of Congress this year.
“Thanks to President Trump and Vice President Vance, Republicans are armed with a massive war chest and we’re ready to deploy it where it counts: exposing the far-left’s insanity, supercharging our ground game, and using as many dollars as possible to support our candidates and energize our base,” RNC Chairman Joe Gruters said in a statement to the Washington Examiner. “While Democrats scramble to get their candidates in line, we’re spending smart and putting our candidates in the best position to defy history in November.”
The RNC enters the final stretch of the midterm cycle with a massive war chest in comparison to the Democratic National Committee. The DNC ended June with $16.3 million cash on hand and more than $18 million in debt. The DNC has not yet released its July Federal Election Commission report, which is due by midnight.
MAGA Inc., President Donald Trump’s super PAC, is also sitting on a massive $400 million, which he claims will be deployed to help Republican candidates nationwide.
The Supreme Court’s NRSC v. FEC decision eliminated limits on how much money a candidate can spend in coordination with party committees. The move will allow the RNC to coordinate with candidates on TV ads, direct mail, digital ads, voter contact, and get-out-the-vote operations.
The tactic could help the RNC blunt a money advantage that individual Democratic candidates have amassed over their GOP opponents. Several Democratic Senate nominees, including Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, and former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, are vastly outraising their GOP competitors.
An RNC official told the Washington Examiner that the committee has hit the apex of cash on hand, and now, with primary season just about through, will look to strategically deploy its war chest in target races across the country. The RNC is also counting on the ideological split between socialists and establishment Democrats and ongoing dysfunction among the DNC.
REPUBLICANS BUILD MIDTERM CONVENTION AROUND TRUMP TO BOLSTER TURNOUT
It remains unclear whether the RNC’s midterm convention in Texas next month will add to coffers or deplete them. The convention is expected, however, to boost morale among Republicans and aid Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for Senate against Democratic state Rep. James Talarico. The committee rolled out a lottery for Republicans to win tickets to the convention at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
