Spencer Pratt says his role model is Jesus Christ

Los Angeles mayoral candidate and reality TV star Spencer Pratt said his political role model is Jesus Christ during an interview with CNN’s Elex Michaelson on Thursday.

“Who is your political role model?” Michaelson said.

“Jesus Christ,” Pratt said. “He was a politician, you know, he had to go in and speak.”

Michaelson pressed Pratt on modern politicians he may similarly follow.

Pratt went on to say, “I am not a politician, I don’t want to be a politician, I want to be a fighter for the people.”

“I am most similar to Obama,” Pratt continued.

“But as the lady on the View said, I don’t have a law degree. So I’m going to work on that online before November. I probably can get one. I’ll do the baby bar,” Pratt said.

The View criticized Pratt last week for not having experience as a politician, and co-host Sunny Hoston brought up not having a law degree and making the Obama comparison.

“You don’t have a law degree from Harvard Law School,” Hoston said. “You don’t — you were not a senator. And there are baby steps you can take, like why not run for city council and learn about the city budget, and then maybe become president of the city council, and then maybe become the mayor?”

Pratt faces current city Mayor Karen Bass and council member Nithya Raman, who are Democrats.

Because Los Angeles uses a nonpartisan election system for city offices, all the candidates will appear on one ballot and party affiliation will not be shown. It’s part of the state’s top-two primary system, which allows everyone to vote together regardless of party affiliation.

Pratt even posted a photo of himself with an example ballot, which showed his name at the top.

The primary election will be held on June 2.
