Lost Hope: Tim Walz’s daughter turns to TikTok to ‘channel’ post-election anger

.

Gov. Tim Walz’s (D-MN) daughter, Hope, has recently turned to TikTok in the wake of the 2024 presidential election, which saw her father and Vice President Kamala Harris lose to President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect J.D. Vance on Tuesday.

Hope Walz’s TikTok account only has three videos posted on it since Thursday, the second of which she filmed herself eating macaroni and cheese while watching television as she vented on the election results. Walz explained she had reached the stage of anger in the stages of grief, and opted to “channel it” by sharing some thoughts she has had since the election.

FIVE DEMOCRATS IN PRIME POSITION TO BE FACE OF THE PARTY IN 2028

“The first one being, this country does not deserve Kamala Harris,” Hope Walz said. “That woman should go live her best life wherever she wants, doing whatever she wants, because we don’t deserve her at this point. The only people who delivered this election were black women and we failed them, and it’s just heartbreaking and we’ve got to do whatever we can to support them and support our people through these next four years.”

Walz added that she is grateful she is on “the side of love and hope and joy and progress” rather than on the Republican side. She also said she would be giving herself a week “to mourn what could’ve been.”

In the follow-up video, Walz revealed that she “finally” took a shower and brushed her teeth for the first time since election night. She also said once she is finished with her week of mourning, “the work begins” on the Democratic Party’s next steps.

Following Trump’s victory in the 2024 election, Harris conceded the race but stated she would “not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” and encouraged her supporters that sometimes “the fight takes a while” to win. Tim Walz has similarly expressed gratitude to the Harris-Walz supporters, writing on X that they need to “continue fighting” for the party’s ideals.

In reflecting on Harris’s loss, Lindy Li, a member of the Harris-Walz campaign’s national finance committee, expressed hope the party will conduct “an honest assessment” on why it lost to Trump, warning the party will “keep losing” if it does not.
