Andy Harris says Cheney is ‘dead wrong’ to flip her opposition against Kamala Harris

.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) argued former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney is “dead wrong” to support Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the election, a flip from when she campaigned against her and then-presidential candidate Joe Biden in 2020.

Cheney joined the vice president during a recent campaign stop in Pennsylvania, during which Kamala Harris said she wanted to move past “the last decade” of former President Donald Trump. The Maryland congressman prefaced his comment on Cheney by pointing to the various flip-flops the vice president has made on the campaign trail, suggesting that “she will say whatever it takes in order to get elected.”

“So when she’s in Pennsylvania, she is for fracking. When she’s in other places, she’s not for fracking,” Andy Harris said on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo. “The list of giveaways is huge, and again, Liz Cheney was right four years ago. She’s dead wrong right now.”

Cheney’s endorsement for Kamala Harris has been widely rebuked by Republicans, with Trump warning Arab Americans that the ex-congresswoman “wants to go to War with every Muslim Country known to mankind.” Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) has also criticized Cheney, who suggested Cheney is someone who wants to “protect the establishment.”

Regarding where voters stand ahead of the election, Andy Harris predicted a victory for Trump due to how voters want to return to “the good old days.” The congressman’s prediction referred to how Trump was already president for four years and how several topics affecting voters, including the cost of living and border security, were superior under Trump’s leadership.

The congressman also previewed Trump’s plans for mass deportations of illegal immigrants, saying the Biden-Harris administration has allowed millions of illegal immigrants “with active deportation orders” into the country. He also said the reason the current administration is not deporting these people is because they want to make them citizens in order to create more voters who support them.

Beyond receiving Liz Cheney’s endorsement, Kamala Harris’s campaign has also received the endorsement of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney. Ex-Democrat and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who endorsed Trump in August, has argued the former vice president’s endorsement ought to make the choice for president “very clear,” given that Cheney is “ the architect of everything that has gone wrong in the Middle East for the last few decades.”

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Kamala Harris’s 2024 running mate, has defended the campaign accepting the endorsements from the Cheneys since they give the team a chance to win over “the Reagan piece” of voters who need “a reason to do the right thing.”
