Trump evades releasing new medical report by attacking Harris’s health

Former President Donald Trump is dodging demands to release his medical history with attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris’s health after her campaign released her health records last week.

Harris’s doctor released a summary of her health Saturday, stating that she had “a medical history notable for seasonal allergies and urticaria” while concluding she was in “excellent health.” The next day, Harris criticized Trump for not releasing his latest medical records, which he had previously said he would “very gladly” do in August.

“He refuses to release his medical records,” Harris said during a Sunday rally in North Carolina. “I’ve done it. Every other presidential candidate in the modern era has done it.”

However, Trump attempted to toss the ball back in Harris’s court Tuesday by mounting fresh questions about “Kamala’s Report,” which he claimed was “really bad.”

In a series of posts to Truth Social, Trump worried that “With all of the problems that she has, there is a real question as to whether or not she should be running for President.”

“According to her Doctor’s Report, she suffers from ‘urticaria,’ defined as ‘a rash of round, red welts on the skin that itch intensely, sometimes with dangerous swelling.’ She also has ‘allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis,’ a very messy and dangerous situation,’ Trump said.

Arguing that “these are deeply serious conditions that clearly impact her functioning,” the former president continued to push back against Harris’s “completely desperate request for my Medical Statements.”

“She is dying to see my Cholesterol (which is 180!), I have already provided them, many times, including quite recently, and they were flawless,” Trump said.

In another Tuesday morning post, Trump said he had “put out more Medical Exams than any other President in History, and aced two Cognitive Exams (the Doctor stated that my ‘cognitive exams were exceptional!’).”

The cholesterol matter came up during House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday. The GOP leader mounted a firm rebuttal after Welker knocked Trump for not releasing new details on “things like his cholesterol levels.”

“The American people don’t care about the cholesterol level of Donald Trump. They care about the cost of living and the fact they cannot pay for groceries because Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s policies have put them in that situation. The medical records are irrelevant,” Johnson said. “Let’s talk about things that the American people care about. That’s why Donald Trump is surging in the polls because he’s doing that on stages, in interviews, nonstop around the clock. And Kamala Harris has done nothing.”

While Trump has declined to release new medical records, his campaign has instead pointed to two health reports from former White House physician Ronny Jackson, which found the former president to be “doing well” following the assassination attempt against him in July, as well as a November 2023 statement from his personal physician showing him to be in “excellent” health.
