The View’s Sunny Hostin claimed that she is scared of Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) potential, specifically pointing to his amplification of a fundraiser for the defense of former Marine Daniel Penny, who was charged with manslaughter after subduing Jordan Neely in a chokehold on a New York City subway. Neely ultimately died after the incident.

“He actually tweeted out about the, you know, the young man that was killed on a subway with a chokehold by a former Marine,” she told her cohosts.

LIBERAL POLICIES ARE MAKING THE AMERICAN DREAM UNAFFORDABLE

“He actually is fundraising for [Penny’s] defense,” she said. “He’s made $2 million already for killing a young black man.”

Last week, DeSantis tweeted out the defense fundraiser for Penny on GiveSendGo. “We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left’s pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law-abiding citizens. We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine … America’s got his back.”

“You have Ron DeSantis, who’s a lawyer, who says he’s not a vigilante. That he’s this great guy, when in New York it’s just a reckless killing, and he was reckless in doing that,” Hostin complained. “For a lawyer to say what we’re hearing Ron DeSantis [say], that just tells me how dangerous he is.”

Hostin further indicated that she’s scared the Florida governor will advance the same policies as former President Donald Trump without repelling some centrist voters, as she says Trump does.

Neely, a homeless black man, had allegedly been throwing trash at and yelling at other passengers that day on the subway. “‘I don’t have food. I don’t have a drink. I’m fed up,’” Neely screamed, according to a witness. “I don’t mind going to jail and getting life in prison. I’m ready to die.”

Witnesses further said Neely was acting in a “hostile and erratic manner.”

It was then that Penny, 24, put him in a chokehold with the assistance of two others, according to police. An unconscious Neely was subsequently taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The New York Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death a homicide last week.

Penny surrendered to police and was charged with felony second-degree manslaughter.

The fundraiser has collected more than $2 million for his legal defense. The money will not be going to DeSantis or his campaign.
