A new electric Ram pickup truck that is being touted to hold up to 500 miles of range per charge was introduced on Wednesday.

Chrysler parent Stellantis N.V. unveiled the 2025 Ram 1500 REV at the New York International Auto Show.

TESLA OWNERS DON’T LIKE THIS NEW REALITY OF OWNING EVS

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said that consumers will be drawn to the REV over other electric trucks based on range performance, speed of charge, and towing, among other factors. Tavares reportedly touted that other automakers “will be under pressure to try to beat us.”

The REV truck boasts new technology while maintaining the look of its current gas-powered models. It will come with the choice between two battery packs, a standard one that holds up to 350 miles of range and the larger pack touting 500 miles of range.

Stellantis also noted the truck’s 654 horsepower allows it to travel from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The truck also holds the ability to tow up to 14,000 pounds and carry 2,700 pounds in its bed.

Another feature the automaker highlighted was the truck’s capability of powering worksite tools or providing power to a home during an outage.

The truck is expected to be built in the United States, paving the way for it to qualify for the $7,500 electric vehicle tax credit. Stellantis, however, has yet to announce a specific factory location.

The new REV truck is set to appear in showrooms in late 2024. Stellantis said a price will be announced closer to its release date.

The new EV truck joins other automakers seeking to stake a claim in the electric vehicle field that is becoming increasingly crowded.

The REV follows nearly two years after EV pickup trucks were debuted by Ford and Rivian. General Motors and Tesla also have plans to launch their respective EV trucks this year.

On Wednesday, Kia also introduced a new EV9 that is projected to go 300 miles per charge while seating up to seven people across three rows of seats. The EV9 is set to hit U.S. showrooms later this year.
