President Joe Biden will hold an afternoon press conference to discuss the results of the midterm elections.

Biden, whose party outperformed expectations, will speak and take questions at 4 p.m. inside the White House. But he has already sent out congratulatory calls and text messages to a host of winning Democrats and thanked poll workers via Twitter.

Reporters repeatedly asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over the last week whether Biden would hold a press conference after the elections, which is considered a tradition inside the West Wing. She responded that the public “will hear from the president,” which has now been confirmed. This will be Biden’s first full press conference since January.
