The son of Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS), Michael “Patton” Guest, was arrested in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Patton Guest, 20 years old, was charged with disorderly conduct, underage drinking, and assault of a police officer. The arrest occurred in downtown Nashville on Broadway, a street lined with multistory bars attracting millions of tourists each year.
Metropolitan Nashville Police Department officer Cody Bergquist was reportedly stationed outside Jason Aldean’s bar on Broadway when a clear plastic cup fell from the rooftop above him, hitting his foot. After reviewing the security camera roll with bar personnel, footage showed Guest throwing the cup off of the roof, according to police.
Officers approached Guest, who was holding an alcoholic beverage in both hands at the time, according to the report. Guest originally denied throwing anything from the rooftop, but later, during his interview, he reportedly admitted to throwing the drink off of the rooftop, also admitting to drinking alcohol from the bar despite being underage. It is unclear at this time how he obtained the alcoholic beverages.

His father is chairman of the House Committee on Ethics and a member of the Law Enforcement Caucus.
A judicial commissioner set Guest’s bond at $2,500, and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office gave him a pretrial release.
