The Left is once again trying to spin a tragedy into a call to arms. It has done it for race many times, and now for sexual orientation.
Earlier this month, a 16-year-old girl named Dagny Benedict, who liked to be called “Nex” and claimed to be nonbinary, tragically died a day after she had a bloody fight in a high school bathroom in Oklahoma.
While investigations have not provided any evidence that Benedict was attacked because of her self-identification or that she died of her injuries in that fight, LGBT activists have decided to exploit the poor deceased girl for political power.
On Saturday, LGBT activists occupied a memorial for Benedict and grabbed an available microphone so that they could yell to the skies that Republicans killed her.
One such activist exclaimed that “MAGA extremist legislation” had created a “rhetoric of division,” clearly unaware of the division she was creating in that same speech, and a “rhetoric of targeting vulnerable populations” that “result[ed] in body bags.”

She then directly blamed Oklahoma State Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters and LibsofTikTok X account owner Chaya Raichik for working to expose and root out activists working to indoctrinate Oklahoman children in their schools, a move that many other activists have replicated.
Clearly, the Left is attempting to gin up another nationwide controversy over a tragic death to give the LGBT class more social prestige and political power, as it did with the death of George Floyd in May 2020 through the Black Lives Matter movement.
A 30-second clip of Floyd on the ground under the knee of a police officer while yelling, “I can’t breathe!” spread on the internet, and the media quickly colluded with race baiters to claim that his ensuing death was a racially motivated murder. The people fell for the lie, took to arms, and engulfed the entire nation in flames to shouts of “No justice, no peace!”
What actually happened came out months later during the court trial of one of the officers involved in Floyd’s death. The 30-second clip became a nine-minute video showing Floyd repeatedly disobeying police, resisting arrest, asking to be put on the ground to breathe, and acting very strangely. A medical analysis found that Floyd’s blood contained a lethal amount of fentanyl.
None of this stopped the Left from pursuing its true goal: accruing great power through threats of violence and accusations of systemic discrimination. Riots caused over $2 billion in damages. BLM successfully extorted enough companies for over $90 million in one year.
The Left effectively dismantled the rule of law as well. Legacy media attempted to dox officer Derek Chauvin’s jurors, pressuring them into passing a high-crime guilty verdict. BLM pressured elected officials to bend the knee to them. Vice President Kamala Harris and her goons helped bail out rioters, murderers, and rapists based on their skin color. Most importantly, it elevated the social status of black people to the top.

The attempt by the Left to frame Benedict’s death as a discriminatory murder falls even flatter than Floyd’s because the public gained access to the facts behind Benedict’s far earlier than Floyd’s. There is also no shocking footage attached to Benedict as there was to Floyd that would give it a similar cultural impact.
Even though the myth of Benedict’s martyrdom has no legs to stand on, it will not stop the Left from peddling her death if it can give them even a scrap of power again.
