Donald Trump indictment: READ IN FULL: Trump faces four new charges related to 2020 election

Former President Donald Trump was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington D.C. on four new charges Tuesday related to the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill in 2021 and alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The former president and Republican front-runner has been indicted on three conspiracy charges and one obstruction charge consisting of: Conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to impede the Jan. 6 congressional proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct and impede the certification of the electoral vote, and a conspiracy against the right to vote and to have that vote counted.

Trump has been ordered to appear in a D.C. district court on Thursday, Aug. 3. He will appear in front of Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyaya for his arraignment. He is expected to plead “not guilty” to all four charges.

Tuesday’s indictment is the latest in a saga Trump has faced since leaving office. His first indictment came in March.
