Hell hath no fury like the Democratic political machine scorned by a woman.
After nearly a decade of emphasizing the importance of protecting democracy, championing women’s empowerment, trusting all women, and elevating women’s voices in politics, Democrats made a stark, sudden pivot on Sunday, scolding, demonizing, and vilifying one of their own, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI). The vociferous, widespread rebuke came after Stevens exercised her democratic right to withdraw her support from the Democratic Senate campaign of Abdul el Sayed, instead throwing her support behind Republican candidate Mike Rogers.
“Our Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, Abdul, said that I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away,” Stevens said. “And he’s right, and that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today. I don’t belong in Abdul’s campaign. I do not stand with Hasan Piker, who gets trafficked on our college campuses.”

Stevens’s decision to support Rogers did not sit well with Democrats. They attacked her, criticized her, and effectively exiled her politically for doing nothing more than what every citizen should be allowed to do in a democratic election: support the candidate of her choice. And when Stevens did so, Democrats showed exactly how little they care about women and democracy. All of that was just a Democratic political farce to deceive voters and manipulate public opinion. Actions speak louder than words, and the Democrats’ decision to politically crucify Stevens speaks volumes. It once again highlighted that Democrats champion women, diversity, and the protection of democracy only if all three align with their political goals, objectives, and aspirations.
Consider just some of the reactions from the elected officials who have regularly emphasized the importance of protecting democracy in our country over the last 10 years. All of it turned out to be a lie. As I have repeatedly warned over that period, the Democrats’ commitment to protecting democracy rested solely on a person’s political ideals and beliefs. It was never about protecting democracy. It was always about quenching the Democrats’ thirst for power while deceiving voters about their true objective and the malicious tactics they planned to use to obtain it.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) blasted Stevens, calling her decision to exercise female empowerment and make a political choice in a democracy a “despicable betrayal.” This came after Schumer thought so highly of Stevens that he gave her his support in her Senate primary election earlier this year.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), one of the loudest voices for protecting democracy and championing women, also criticized Stevens’s choice to be diverse and inclusive by supporting Rogers. Pelosi, who has repeatedly said Democrats are needed to protect democracy, was livid over Stevens exercising her right to support Rogers in the very democracy Pelosi vowed to protect.
“Haley Stevens has chosen to dangerously betray Michigan families’ healthcare, freedoms and future with her horrific endorsement of Mike Rogers,” Pelosi said. “@AbdulElSayed must win — because Michigan and our country deserve better.”

Pelosi, Schumer, and all the other Democrats who rushed to vilify Stevens show that all the platitudes and claims about women’s empowerment, women’s voices, and protecting democracy were nothing more than duplicitous rhetoric meant to deceive voters, manipulate their emotions, and shape their political opinions. It was all a charade driven by their thirst for power. When it comes down to it, they don’t care about women, empowerment, democracy, or protecting democracy. They just want political power and influence and will run over anyone who gets in their way of obtaining them.
In their quest for power and privilege, Democrats are the very misogynists and threats to democracy they warned about. Their attacks on Stevens are just the latest proof of it.
