Lies about Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are becoming a bit of a national pastime in today’s political climate. In several instances, people have claimed ICE officers have engaged in monstrous behavior, only for it to be revealed later that the people making such claims were the monsters themselves. The most recent example involves Gurinder Gill, a Sacramento man who claimed ICE “disappeared” his wife but was later charged with murdering her. When informed of the alleged brutal crime, the White House condemned the incident, calling it “another ICE hoax.”
Jasmine Gill, 30, was last seen Sept. 30 and was reported missing by her cousin Oct. 4, according to reports. When local authorities questioned Gurinder Gill, he claimed that ICE officers had arrested Jasmine Gill and made her disappear while she was collecting mail at their Sacramento, California, home. The husband told the police the oft-repeated left-wing horror story of ICE officers taking innocent immigrants off the street as part of the Trump administration’s illegal immigration enforcement operations.
While most of these stories involve embellishments or crafted narratives that portray those who break the law as innocent bystanders, this situation was completely different, as it was seemingly entirely false. Jasmine Gill, a nurse who was born in India, was not apprehended by ICE officers. She was allegedly murdered by her husband, who then burned her remains, which were found in El Dorado County, California, about 70 miles away from their Sacramento residence. Gill was arrested and charged with the murder.
The White House blasted the incident, calling Gurinder a “sick man” and, as mentioned above, labeling it a hoax.
“Another ICE hoax,” White House spokeswoman Lauren Bis told the Washington Examiner. “This sick man murdered his wife and then tried to blame ICE law enforcement for kidnapping her. Our prayers are with Jasmine Gill’s family and loved ones.”
Gurinder Gill’s alleged murder of his wife and deceitful attempt to blame her disappearance on ICE are a reflection of a larger problem plaguing our country, typically at the urging of liberals, Democrats, socialists, and communists who want to dismantle the federal agency implementing illegal immigration enforcement operations. And while this particular incident seemed to lack support from the political Left, the excuse Gurinder Gill used is often parroted by many left-wingers as one of the reasons why ICE is problematic. They have used fear tactics and spread much misinformation in a campaign to vilify and discredit ICE.
For example, in one incident, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker claimed that during an immigration enforcement raid in Chicago in September 2025, ICE officers zip-tied children as part of their operation.
“There were people who were held, elderly people, and children zip-tied, elderly people held for three hours at a time,” Pritzker said at the time.
The Department of Homeland Security and ICE strongly denied this claim and offered a rebuttal debunking Pritzker’s claim. What Pritzker used as evidence of a child being zip-tied by ICE officers was instead footage from a parody video on TikTok. Pritzker never issued a retraction or apology.
AS A LIFELONG 76ERS FAN, I AM GLAD TRUMP BLASTED LEBRON JAMES FOR DISRESPECTING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM
There have been many such bogus claims made by supporters of illegal immigrants and fanatics with the sole objective of demonizing ICE officers and DHS’s illegal immigration enforcement operations. In their quest to eradicate such operations, socialists, communists, Democrats, and others on the Left have regularly spread false stories, forcing DHS to spend substantial time and resources to debunk those claims.
The killing allegedly involving Gurinder Gill is an example of the tactics used to try to discredit illegal immigration enforcement operations. ICE officers and DHS should be allowed to do their jobs and remove the violent criminal illegal immigrants who regularly threaten and endanger innocent people in the country. The Trump administration’s illegal immigration enforcement operations to protect innocent Americans from harm should be able to occur without obstruction from left-wing politicians and activists.
