Mikie Sherrill stumps in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for Seth Moulton and others

Gov. Mikie Sherrill (D-VA) stumped for several U.S. House and Senate candidates in New Hampshire and Massachusetts this week as she takes her campaigning for fellow veterans on the road.

Sherrill took her New Jersey brand national in early August, backing a slate of over a dozen candidates from 10 states as she tries to build on the momentum from her double-digit 2025 gubernatorial win. As she elevates her national profile, Sherrill headed to the Granite State, where politicians often travel to test the waters for a presidential run, to join several candidates on the midterm campaign trail.

The New Jersey governor and former Navy helicopter pilot is stumping with incumbent Rep. Maggie Goodlander (D-NH) and Democratic House candidate Maura Sullivan in New Hampshire this week. Goodlander served as an intelligence officer in the Navy Reserve, while Sullivan is a Marine veteran of the Iraq war.

In Massachusetts, Sherrill stumped for Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), also a Marine veteran of the Iraq war, as he campaigns to unseat incumbent Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) in the Senate.

“Honored to welcome my friend Governor @MikieSherrill to Massachusetts today,” Moulton wrote on X Wednesday. “Together, we’ve fought to support our veterans, expand accessible mental healthcare, and break the status quo in Washington.”

Sherrill launched her own Mission to Deliver PAC in April to gear up for the midterm elections, announcing her first slate of national endorsements for all veteran candidates.

“When we send veterans to Congress, we are sending in dedicated public servants trained to run toward the fight and unafraid to take on the status quo,” Sherrill said in a statement on her endorsements, which included Moulton, Goodlander, and Sullivan. “I’m proud to endorse these vets — they will accomplish the mission and deliver for the people we serve.”

New Jersey politicos have speculated about whether the governor has her sights set on a presidential run in 2028, but so far, Sherrill has stayed out of the direct spotlight as she works in the background, telling Politico in July that she wants to be a power broker in 2028.

“I want to make sure that what we see in any candidate in ’28 and anybody that gets across the finish line, I want to see somebody who is on track with the focus that New Jersey has on creating opportunity for everyone and a great future for our kids,” Sherrill said.
