Republicans joke Olive Garden’s Never-Ending Pasta Pass requiring photo ID is more secure than elections

.

Republicans are giving Democrats a “penne” for their thoughts on voter ID, claiming Olive Garden’s Never-Ending Pasta Pass requires tighter restrictions than U.S. elections.

“American elections should not be less secure than Olive Garden’s endless pasta,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) said Thursday on X. “Pass the SAVE America Act.”

He made the post in response to Olive Garden’s warning that passholders must have a valid photo ID when they use their pasta pass.

“The Never-Ending Pasta Pass is only for use by the Passholder whose name is printed on the Pass,” the chain said on X. “Passes are personalized and non-transferable. Passholders must present a valid photo I.D. along with the Pass at the time of ordering.”

Ten thousand passes went on sale at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Each pass gives customers access to 13 weeks of never-ending pasta, sauces, and protein toppings, with soup or salad and breadsticks for $100 each, plus tax.

White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson joked about the message from Olive Garden during a broadcast on Newsmax.

“I saw a tweet yesterday from Olive Garden of all places that in order to take advantage of their never-ending pasta pass, you have to show photo ID,” Jackson said. “I thought, ‘That’s weird, Olive Garden takes pasta pass security more seriously than Democrats are taking election security.’”

THOM TILLIS THREATENS TO STALL SAVE AMERICA ACT

The act would require stronger documentation that people registering to vote prove they are U.S. citizens. President Donald Trump has been pushing for the SAVE America Act to pass, even refusing to sign the historic 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act in protest, letting it become law without his signature.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD), who has been encouraged to change Senate rules to bypass the filibuster, lacks the 60 votes needed to advance the bill.
