At least one person is dead, and 10 are injured from an active shooter situation on Friday in Midland, Texas, Mayor Lori Blong said.

Shots were heard coming from a building near West Wall St., according to authorities. There was only one known suspect involved, and the motivations behind the shooting are unknown. The investigation is currently ongoing, according to Midland Mayor Lori Blong.

“We will not confirm additional details until law enforcement has completed a thorough review and all facts are established,” Blong said in a statement on social media.

She also said that law enforcement established a perimeter around the shooting area, and all agencies responded to the situation.

The shooting took place near Eisenhower Drive, with police first being dispatched at 8:03 a.m. Central Time.

“The situation we believe to have started in South East Midland and progressed across South Midland,” Blong said in a press conference.

Armored law enforcement units surrounded the building, with the suspect remaining inside.
