Trump makes a slew of late-night posts related to Greenland ahead of Davos

.

President Donald Trump made multiple late-night social media posts on Tuesday morning about Greenland and other foreign affairs ahead of his visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

After posting what appeared to be a text message from French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump followed up with several other posts related to the tense geopolitical situation involving Greenland. This included a summary by Trump of a phone conversation he had with Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte, a fictitious image of himself and Cabinet members holding a United States flag in Greenland, a fictitious image in the Oval Office of Trump speaking to European leaders while a map of the U.S., Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela covered with the U.S. flag is displayed, among other posts.

Trump’s post about his conversation with Rutte included the revelation of an agreement to “a meeting of various parties in Davos, Switzerland.” He mentioned Greenland’s importance to national and world security.

“I had a very good telephone call with Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO, concerning Greenland,” Trump posted. “I agreed to a meeting of the various parties in Davos, Switzerland. As I expressed to everyone, very plainly, Greenland is imperative for National and World Security. There can be no going back — On that, everyone agrees!”

Trump then emphasized the strength of the U.S. and said it is the only country that can ensure peace worldwide by demonstrating strength.

“The United States of America is the most powerful Country anywhere on the Globe, by far,” Trump said. “Much of the reason for this is a rebuilding of our Military during my First Term, which rebuilding continues at even more expedited pace. We are the only POWER that can ensure PEACE throughout the World — And it is done, quite simply, through STRENGTH!”

Sticking with the theme of Greenland and the tenuous global situation that Trump’s desire for the Arctic island has caused, the president made what could be perceived as two antagonistic social media posts.

In the first, the president posted an altered picture of himself in the Oval Office, seated at the Resolute Desk, in front of several European leaders, including United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, among others. To his left, displayed on an easel, is a map of the Western Hemisphere with the U.S. flag over the U.S., Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela.

In the second post, there was an image of Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio standing on what appears to be Greenland with Trump holding a U.S. flag. Next to the triumvirate is a sign that reads “Greenland – US Territory EST. 2026.”

In the next post, Trump scolded the United Kingdom, claiming the country and our “brilliant NATO ally” was planning to give away the island of Diego Garcia to Mauritius for “no reason whatsoever.” The island currently contains a U.S. military base.

“Shockingly, our ‘brilliant’ NATO Ally, the United Kingdom, is currently planning to give away the Island of Diego Garcia, the site of a vital U.S. Military Base, to Mauritius, and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER,” Trump said. “There is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weakness. These are International Powers who only recognize STRENGTH, which is why the United States of America, under my leadership, is now, after only one year, respected like never before.”

“The UK giving away extremely important land is an act of GREAT STUPIDITY, and is another in a very long line of National Security reasons why Greenland has to be acquired,” added the president. “Denmark and its European Allies have to DO THE RIGHT THING.”

CONGRESS URGED TO STOP ‘MADNESS’ OF TRUMP’S GREENLAND OBSESSION

Trump then posted what seemed to be a text message from Rutte, praising the president for his work in foreign affairs, including recent efforts in Syria, Gaza, and Ukraine. Rutte expressed his desire to “finding a way forward on Greenland.”

“Mr. President, dear Donald – what you accomplished in Syria today is incredible,” read the message. “I will use my media engagements in Davos to highlight your work there, in Gaza, and in Ukraine. I am committed to finding a way forward on Greenland.”

Trump is scheduled to depart for Davos on Tuesday afternoon, according to his schedule. He will arrive at the World Economic Forum with the largest U.S. delegation in history, the WEF reported. He will give a special address to the WEF on Wednesday and then meet with European leaders, during which Greenland is expected to be one of the most critical topics discussed.
