Days after his election, Mamdani is already asking ‘the people’ for money

.

Zohran Mamdani hasn’t spent one official day in office yet as mayor of New York City, and he is already demonstrating core qualities of left-wing, communist, socialist government leaders: he’s asking for an influx of money to fund his political ambitions. The mayor-elect, who ran an Orwellian-style socialist campaign filled with big promises of easier lives. He promised his supporters a new era of government that they could trust, one that would implement new reforms to usher in an era of affordability — and then he asked other people to give him money.

In a video posted to his social media account, Mamdani asked for people to contribute as he builds his team to run a socialist government in the city, which was once the preeminent example of American capitalism.

“Welcome to the transition,” Mamdani said with an impish smile.

“This is the period over the next few months where we build a City Hall that delivers on the promises of our campaign to make New York City affordable and to make government accountable to the people it serves,” Mamdani says.

The rhetorical style here embodies genuine socialist and communist rhetoric. It stressed the importance of community and togetherness while laying out the groundwork to build their utopia. It’s been used, in one form or another, by the world’s previous socialist and communist rulers, from Vladimir Lenin to Joseph Stalin to Mao Tse-Tung to Fidel Castro to Ho Chi Minh. However, while it deceptively promoted communal efforts in building Mamdani’s new benevolent government, it is he who will be in charge of running it.

The “we” won’t have any say in running New York City, only “he” will. And while he vowed to consult the “working people, who know better than anyone what our neighborhoods deserve,” it will inevitably become just another in a long list of promises abandoned by socialist leaders. One must look no further than the concluding minute of Mamdani’s video. The man who was going to change the financial landscape of New York City requested his supporters to send money.

After promising the world in the video, Mamdani asked for an influx of cash.

“On January 1st, I will be your mayor, New Year’s Day, and a new era for this city,” Mamdani said. “Oh, and one more thing. Remember how I told you a few months ago to stop sending us money? You can start again.”

The new era, the same as the old era, only this time it’s called democratic socialism.

“This transition requires staff, research, and an infrastructure that can meet this moment, and it will be made possible by the people who built and believe in this movement,” Mamdani says. But for all those who don’t speak socialist-communist, this is jargon for “we are fiscally irresponsible, and before we tax half of your earnings to bring you affordability, we need more of your money now while you still have some.”

WHY TUESDAY’S ELECTION WIN FOR DEMOCRATS REALLY WASN’T THAT BIG A DEAL OR UNEXPECTED

“So I hope you will make a donation to transition2025.com,” Mamdani says. “Now let’s get to work.”

And by work, he means the people “who built and believe in this movement,” not those who will be in charge of ordering everyone around.

Mamdani needs more money after less than a week of being elected New York City’s mayor. One could only imagine how much worse it’s going to get once he’s actually in office.
