MAGA world wants to surrender cultural issues to Democrats for 2024

Former President Donald Trump and those in his orbit are so obsessively focused on stroking his ego that they are now calling on conservatives to surrender cultural fights to the Democratic Party and its liberal activists.
Kari Lake, the Arizona gubernatorial loser who wants to either lose a Senate race or be Trump’s running mate, is the latest to call for Republicans to stand down. Lake’s war room account tweeted that “No one is saying not to fight the culture war. But it’s simply not the most critical issue heading into 2024,” following that up with “we simply prioritize other things.”
TEAM DESANTIS: WE’RE ABOUT ACTION, NOT BELTWAY CHATTER
Lake’s team insists that “no one is saying not to fight the culture war,” but that is effectively what they are insisting. As everyone knows, everything before the “but” does not count. By telling conservatives to sideline the culture war for 2024, Lake’s team is arguing to let Democrats continue to set the cultural narratives at a time when conservatives are breaking through.
This matches with Donald Trump Jr. telling conservatives not to react to Anheuser-Busch promoting transgender “influencer” Dylan Mulvaney, who makes a mockery of women by acting as a caricature of them while calling for it to be illegal to refer to people with the wrong pronouns. And it matches with Trump himself, who has stood by since losing reelection while GOP governors were left to pick up the fight against critical race theory and gender transitions for children.
Those are the cultural issues that are being referred to when we talk about the “culture wars.” Trump’s orbit would have conservatives disregard Democrats forcing teachers to indoctrinate children with racism and gender ideology, subjecting children to irreversible sex reassignment procedures, and reorienting the criminal justice system to allow violent career criminals to roam the streets with no consequences.
School closures and pandemic restrictions also fall under that umbrella, as the entire Democratic cultural apparatus was used to push those on society, even as Democrats themselves refused to abide by them.

Trump and his team want to ignore this all because he can’t one-up Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on these issues. DeSantis has taken the most national media heat for pushing back on all of those cultural issues listed. While Trump was off in Florida whining about the “stolen” 2020 election that he lost, DeSantis and other GOP governors (including Virginia’s Glenn Youngkin and Georgia’s Brian Kemp) were standing strong on cultural issues and winning.
Conservatives surrendered the culture for too long, allowing Hollywood, the education system, and major corporations to be consumed by liberal activists and used as tools to destroy and degrade American values. Lake and Trump are calling for yet another surrender so that they can focus on their fake stolen election claims. Democrats couldn’t be happier to hear it.
