The child of Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) was sentenced Wednesday following a series of misdemeanor convictions, including assaulting a police officer.

Riley Dowell, 23, will be on probation for a year and will write an apology letter to the police officer that received a bloody nose from Dowell striking him. Dowell identifies as a transgender woman and was reportedly caught on Jan. 21 spray painting the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common with the phrases “no cop city” and “ACAB,” an acronym meaning “all cops are b******s.”

Upon being confronted by police officers, Dowell also resisted arrest, which was the third of the misdemeanors the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office charged, including assaulting a police officer and vandalizing a monument.

Part of Dowell’s probation includes 30 hours of community service and a fine for cleaning the graffiti-tagged monument. Dowell previously paid a $500 bail to be released from police custody on Jan. 24.

The Parkman Bandstand is a monument dedicated to Dr. George Parkman Jr., who was famous for donating $5 million to the preservation of Boston’s parks. Recently, the monument hosted the Boston Freedom Rally for the 33rd year in a row, drawing in activists in the name of marijuana law reform.
