Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) spoke out against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s looming indictment of former President Donald Trump on Monday, but his response did not satisfy Trump or his supporters.

Trump warned in a post on Monday that DeSantis will “probably find out about FALSE ACCUSATIONS & FAKE STORIES sometime in the future, as he gets older, wiser, and better known,” also sharing an unsubstantiated claim about DeSantis drinking with underage girls while he was in his 20s.

The former president then posted about how DeSantis “is dropping in the Polls so fast that he soon may be falling behind young Vivek Ramaswamy,” and he claimed DeSantis wants to cut Social Security and Medicare while also calling him a “disciple of Super RINO Paul Ryan.”

He also posted various polls showing him leading DeSantis in the GOP primary in several states.

Two of Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, both went after DeSantis for his response by arguing it was “weak.”

“So DeSantis thinks that Dems weaponizing the law to indict President Trump is a ‘manufactured circus’ & isn’t a ‘real issue’ Pure weakness. Now we know why he was silent all weekend. He’s totally owned by Karl Rove, Paul Ryan & his billionaire donors. 100% Controlled Opposition,” Donald Trump Jr. tweeted.

Eric Trump went after DeSantis for not having a “backbone” and took issue with DeSantis saying he would not focus on Bragg’s prosecution.

“Until that day where they do the exact same thing to him, his friends and his family… at which time he will neither have the backbone, nor the resources, to fight off the corrupt system. He’s not the guy I though he was,” Eric Trump tweeted.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who serves as the chairwoman of the House Republican Conference and has endorsed Trump in the 2024 race, said she believes DeSantis will slip in the polls after his reaction.

“I think he’s gonna see slippage in his polls. He’s already seen slippage the past couple of weeks. I think you’re going to see President Trump continue to solidify his position in the Republican nomination,” Stefanik said.

DeSantis called out Bragg after being asked about the possible indictment of the former president at a press conference on Monday. He went after Bragg for his record as a prosecutor, arguing he was making his community less safe, and he also called the investigation “an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office.”

“We won’t be involved in this. I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA,” DeSantis said. “He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base. I’ve got real issues I got to deal with here in the state of Florida.”
