Paris Hilton says God helped her get through physical and sexual abuse she suffered as a child.

The socialite turned reality star and businesswoman is opening up about a dark side of her past in her new memoir.

Hilton writes about how she was kissed by a teacher in eighth grade and was drugged and raped at age 15 by an older man she met at the mall.

She said those incidents prompted her to rebel, cutting school and sneaking out to clubs. Hilton said her parents responded by sending her to troubled teenage facilities that were recommended by professionals but actually were centers where she was physically and sexually abused.

“It was pure torture every single day, Hilton said on The View. “The only thing that got me through it was thinking about who I wanted to be and what I wanted to become when I got out of there.”

Hilton has since been advocating for these facilities to be shut down and has worked to change laws in eight states.

“I have a mission in life now,” Hilton said about why she wrote this book. “I feel that maybe God put me through this and gave me this special gift so one day I could be the hero that I always needed when I was a little girl.”

Hilton, who became a mother to son Phoenix in January with husband Carter Reum, said she didn’t tell her family about her baby until after he was born.

“My life has been so public, and I just really wanted this for myself. I didn’t want to have to think of the media and people having negative energy towards my unborn baby. I just wanted him to be safe on Earth.”

Hilton says becoming a mother has made her “a different person.”

“I’m just so in love with him and he just fills my heart up with so much love and I feel like my life is finally complete.”
