Texas man fatally shoots alleged home invader in chest: Police

A homeowner in Texas shot and killed an alleged home invader Saturday, authorities said.

The incident took place around 6 p.m. after the homeowner, identified as a man in his twenties, confronted a man he believed was trying to break in near the back door of his home, according to a report.

Following the encounter, the homeowner used a gun to fire at least two shots into the alleged intruder’s chest, the San Antonio Police Department said.

Emergency officials responded to the scene and attempted CPR on the victim, identified as a man in his thirties, the report noted. Efforts to save the suspect failed, and he was declared dead at the scene of the shooting.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and police said there is a possible relationship between the shooter and the suspect.

Several other people were inside the home when the shooting occurred, including young children, the report noted.
