Pompeo points finger at conservatives who ‘just rail on social media’ post-midterm elections

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his disappointment with the 2022 midterm elections on social media, criticizing conservatives who “rail on social media.”
Pompeo’s statement came after the Republican Party did not experience the red wave it was projected to have on Tuesday night, with a Senate majority for the GOP unclear as of Friday morning.
“Conservatives are elected when we deliver,” Pompeo wrote. “Not when we just rail on social media. That’s how we can win. We fight for families and a strong America.”

Many of the Republican candidates who lost on Tuesday were endorsed by former President Donald Trump, and some members of the GOP have begun to argue that the party needs to move on from the former president and instead focus its energy on another candidate.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has become a front-runner for a 2024 presidential run after he successfully won his reelection bid on Tuesday. Trump has begun to criticize the rising GOP star ahead of the 2024 presidential season, referring to him as “DeSanctimonious” during a Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

Pompeo, who is also seen as a possible 2024 presidential candidate for the GOP, gave his approval to DeSantis’s reelection the same evening that Trump made his comment on the Florida governor.

Trump has not announced he will be running for another term at the White House, though he has hinted at one countless times. On Monday, the former president said he would be making a “very big announcement” at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida on Nov. 15, with many predicting he will make an announcement related to 2024.
