Trump claims Biden FBI ‘altered’ and ‘corrupted’ information on Butler assassination attempt

.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that new information had been uncovered regarding the attempt on his life in 2024 by Thomas Matthew Crooks and the FBI’s handling of the matter.

In a Truth Social post, Trump alleged that former President Joe Biden‘s administration mishandled the investigation into “this assassination attempt.”

“Everybody knows the Crooked Joe Biden FBI didn’t do what they should have with respect to the Lunatic who shot me in Butler, PA,” Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. “By the time I got into Office, on January 20th, most of the information was missing, altered, corrupted, or gone. New info was just found! Why wasn’t it seen long ago? This was all a Democrat Plot, to get me out of the Election, that failed.”

Trump added that “Dirty Cop Christopher Wray,” the former FBI director, “should pay a price for the way he handled this assassination attempt, and certainly for the things he said.”

Trump’s comments come after Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) received new documents this week concerning the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. The documents were procured as part of Grassley’s investigation into the assassination attempt.

The documents include FBI interviews in which Crooks’s father told law enforcement that he “never really had a father/son bond” with the gunman. He said that after his son was born, “he did not scream, and he was always quiet from that point on.” The younger Crooks was killed in a shootout after he fired his own weapon at Trump.

The elder Crooks also told investigators his son misbehaved at school because “he was bored.” He also said that there was a time he “thought Thomas had ADHD” and that he had a habit of talking to himself, which “became more noticeable over the years.”

“Thomas called himself a Republican. Thomas did not like the welfare state and was against the ‘woke’ ideology but never really espoused the Republican ideology,” the elder Crooks said of his son, who instead preferred debating “government policies in a general sense” and “did not believe the 2020 presidential election was rigged.”
