Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) implored his colleagues in the House to interview the intelligence officials who signed a letter casting doubt on the Hunter Biden laptop story back in 2020.
Dubbing the letter as “probably the most effective effort of sabotage” against the laptop story, Johnson argued the former officials had more of an influence in the 2020 election than Russia did during its prior interference campaigns.
EX-INTEL OFFICIAL FELT HUNTER BIDEN EMAILS ‘HAD TO BE REAL’ BEFORE SIGNING DISINFO LETTER
“That letter that they sent was an information operation itself and impacted and interfered in our election to a far greater extent than anything Russia could have ever hoped to accomplish,” Johnson said on Fox News’s Mornings With Maria Bartiromo. “The house has to call those 51 intelligence officials.”

In the letter, which was released in October 2020, the former intelligence officials underscored “that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement.”
The letter came in response to a bombshell New York Post article on the soon-to-be first son’s laptop and revelations about his overseas business dealings.
Signatories included former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. One of the signatories, Douglas Wise, has since said that he knew large chunks of the laptop were likely authentic at the time.
Johnson noted that when he was investigating the Hunter Biden laptop debacle, he lacked support from his committee members to issue the subpoenas he wanted. House Republicans, whoever, have been revisiting the issue.
Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) is investigating President Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s business dealings. Comer’s counterpart, Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), who also chairs a subcommittee formed to examine the alleged “weaponization” of the Justice Department, has expressed interest in how federal investigators handled Hunter’s laptop.
Johnson testified before the weaponization committee during its first public hearing last week. When asked by host Maria Bartiromo whether the diamonds and jewels the younger Biden reportedly received amount to money laundering, Johnson left the possibility open.
“It’s one of the hallmarks of money laundering. We know that Hunter Biden was paid a million dollars to represent Patrick Ho, who was convicted of money laundering. So it’s pretty easy to put two and two together. Chuck Grassley and I did it for the American public, but again, the media ignored it,” Johnson said.

The senator further underscored that the investigations revolving around the first son are “incredibly important” so that the public can know whether adversarial foreign powers have any leverage over the Biden family.
“I don’t know all of the ways of Joe Biden is compromised in terms of his foreign financial entanglements. But the Chinese Communist government knows, Russia knows, Iran knows. And that’s why we need to get the bottom of this,” Johnson stressed.
