WATCH: Brooklyn Nets guard fined $40k for homophobic remark

The NBA announced that Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been fined $40,000 after using “derogatory and disparaging language” in a post-game interview Thursday.
Following his team’s 116-105 victory over the Chicago Bulls, Thomas and teammate Spencer Dinwiddie were interviewed by TNT.

Days earlier, Dinwiddie had made a joke about the recent trade of former Nets star Kyrie Irving, according to a report.
He joked that while the Nets might not have received the best players for Irving, they received the “best-looking,” the report noted.
“And the Nets needed some help in that department,” he said.
Thomas was asked about Dinwiddie’s remarks by the TNT crew.
“We already had good-looking guys,” he said. “No homo.”
Thomas received backlash for the remark, and he later apologized on social media.

“I want to apologize for the insensitive word I used in the post-game interview,” he tweeted.
“I was excited about the win and was being playful. I definitely didn’t intend to offend anyone, but realize that I probably did. My apologies again. Much love.”
