WATCH: Sarah Sanders says Newsom attack ‘validates’ she’s ‘doing something right’

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) is shrugging off Democrats’ criticism following her response to President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address, particularly that of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA), saying it only shows Republicans are “doing things the right way.”
Sanders appeared on Hannity Thursday to respond to Newsom attacking Arkansas’s crime rate while touting Republicans’ stance on public safety.

“I learned a long time ago, Sean, if the Left is attacking you, you’re probably doing something right,” Sanders told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “So it only further validates that we’re doing things the right way.”
In 2020, violent crime spiked to its highest point in more than three decades in Arkansas.
Hannity pointed out that Sanders holds one month of gubernatorial leadership under her belt and compared it to Newsom’s nearly 7,000 days holding office as either San Francisco mayor, lieutenant governor, or governor.
“Let’s not forget that [Newsom] had to run ads begging people to stay in California not that long ago,” Sanders also said. “Every single town I go to in Arkansas, I meet someone who has moved from California. My message to them is, ‘We’re glad you’re here, but don’t forget why you left California.”

Since taking office, Sanders has rescinded COVID-19 mandates, issued an executive order to ban critical race theory, and unveiled an education reform plan that includes school choice and seeks to raise teachers’ salaries.
“We did not run and spend two years on the campaign trail to take it easy. So, we’ve got our foot on the gas, and we’re not taking it off any time soon,” Sanders said. “We’re proud of our state, and our gates are open for people to come.”
