Burt Bacharach dead: Legendary composer dies at 94

Composer Burt Bacharach died at 94 years old.

The news was reportedly shared by his publicist Tina Brausam, who said he died on Wednesday in his Los Angeles, California, home.

According to Brausam, he died of natural causes.

The award-winning composer is known for several hit compositions, including “Walk on By” and “Do You Know the Way to San Jose.”

Over the course of his life, he won eight Grammy awards, including the lifetime achievement award in 2008. The talented musician also garnered three Oscar wins for his work in the films Arthur and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Bacharach often worked with lyricist partner Hal David, and the two were dubbed by some the “Rodgers & Hart” of the 1960s.

One of his favorite artists to compose for was Dionne Warwick, evidenced by just how many pieces he wrote for her.

Bacharach and David wrote 39 consecutive chart hits for the singer, including “Walk On By,” “Don’t Make Me Over,” and “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again.”

The composer also created material for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, and Tom Jones, among others.

His famous work has been covered by countless artists, most famously by the likes of Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Frank Sinatra.
