“Being recognized for the NFLPA Alan Page Community Award is humbling and a dream come true,” Hamlin said in a press release.
“I’m humbled to even be mentioned amongst those guys. I’ve always wanted to impact my community and show that it’s possible to do great things. With this award, we’ll be able to impact even more people and keep this mission going,” he added.
The NFLPA Community MVP program has honored one player a week during the football season, starting in 2014. An award of $10,000 is awarded to each honoree for their selected charity. Winners are eligible for the Alan Page Community Award, which is ultimately determined by “an external committee of judges across labor, media and charity as well as a digital fan vote.”

Last month, Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game was never rescheduled. Fortunately, Hamlin was able to recover after receiving CPR on the field and being transported to a local hospital.
Following the scary moment, the Bills scored two touchdowns on kickoff returns in their first game following the incident. The Patriots lost to the team after Bills running back Nyheim Hines scored the touchdowns.
