Maxwell Frost, Gen Z liberal freshman, calls Trump’s border wall ‘Soviet statue’

Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) likened the wall at the southern border to a “Soviet statue” while discussing immigration and the influx of fentanyl.
Frost spoke during a House Oversight Committee hearing, “On The Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents,” during which border agents testified about their experiences at the southern border — just hours before President Joe Biden is set to deliver his State of the Union address, where the topic of immigration is expected to come up.

The arrival of immigrants has brought an influx of fentanyl both into border states and inner states across the United States. However, Frost doesn’t believe the crisis should all be pinned on Biden.
“My colleagues on the other side of the aisle would have us believe that the solution to the fentanyl problem in this country is to discourage both illegal and legal immigration,” he said. “In comes the wall.”
“We know that crossings haven’t decreased since we spent $15 billion … of taxpayer money on that monument of fear,” Frost said. “The wall kinda reminds me of a sad, decaying Soviet statue.”

He added that Republicans should think about what the biggest failure is when it comes to the border crisis.
“Is the bigger failure that migrants are able to breach the wall, or find their way around it?” Frost said.

The hearing comes one week after the Republican-led House Judiciary committee held its first hearing on the border crisis, though no Border Patrol officials appeared before the committee. It is the first of many hearings the House GOP promised to hold investigating Biden’s policies.
The ramifications from the hearings could damage the White House, as House Republicans have threatened to investigate and impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for the crisis at the border.
