Top Republicans in the House are voicing they feel that a review into former Vice President Mike Pence’s handling of classified information should be conducted in the wake of reports documents were found at his Indiana home on Tuesday.

The news of Pence having improperly stored classified documents at his residence comes on the heels of classified information being found at President Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, residence and at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, with GOP lawmakers raising concerns about the national security risks of Biden having kept the information after his time as vice president. Former President Donald Trump has also come under fire for storing a slew of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House.

BIDEN SENATE RECORDS SHOULD BE SEARCHED IN CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS CASE, WATCHDOGS SAY

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner (R-OH) said he will be asking for information on the matter to assess the risks of the records being improperly stored.

“It is a serious matter for any government official to mishandle classified documents,” he tweeted. “I plan to ask for the same intelligence review and damage assessment to see if there are any national security concerns.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said he has spoken with Pence, who has “agreed to fully cooperate with congressional oversight” on the situation. Comer went on to take a swing at Biden, alleging that the Biden administration has failed to be as transparent as it could be under similar circumstances.

“Former Vice President Mike Pence reached out today about classified documents found at his home in Indiana. He has agreed to fully cooperate with congressional oversight and any questions we have about the matter. Former Vice President Pence’s transparency stands in stark contrast to Biden White House staff who continue to withhold information from Congress and the American people,” he said in a statement.

And while House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) opted not to directly address Pence, he also took a swipe at Biden, accusing his team of attempting to “cover up” the situation.

“Joe Biden’s attorneys and DOJ had a shared understanding about keeping the classified documents scandal quiet. In other words, they tried to cover it up,” he tweeted.

Both Trump and Biden are facing investigations being conducted by special counsels into the improperly stored information.
