The Washington Examiner’s Samantha-Jo Roth said unhappy Republicans are pointing the finger at candidate quality following poor midterm election performances.

She explained that she is hearing from “a lot of Republicans who are very unhappy with how things went, and they’re pointing to candidate quality,” giving the example of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

However, this “has created so much backlash among those who have supported President Trump.”

“You have other people,” she said, “like Sen. Rick Scott, who are pointing at McConnell, who are saying that his super PAC was not spending the amount of money that it needed to in order to boost some of these candidates like Blake Masters in Arizona.

“We’re seeing a lot of this infighting, a lot of division within the party at this point,” Roth continued. “We’re seeing it in both chambers.”

Roth also addressed Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) success on election night, noting that there is “within the Republican Party just this overall sense that Ron DeSantis is somebody that needs to be watched.”
