As Leno arrived at the Comedy Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, he brushed a police car. Leno checked in with the police officer regarding any damage before entering the comedy club where a sold-out crowd awaited.
Leno said he wasn’t nervous about returning to the stage.
“I got burned. I was in the hospital for a few days, and now I’m back out working again,” Leno said, downplaying his return with a laugh. “People do this every day.”
Arsenio Hall and Jimmy Brogan opened for Leno, who reportedly included jokes about his burn injuries within his comedy set.
“No comic would leave the Grossman burn center, and do stand-up Sunday in Hermosa!” Hall told ET, joking, “I lost my big toe nail after someone stepped on my foot at the Super Bowl last year. I canceled three stand-up dates after that.”
As he arrived, Leno joked that he had two shows that night: “Regular and extra crispy.”
