Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) whipped up boos for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during her Friday speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Greene, who told the attendees Zelensky “wants our sons and daughters to go die in Ukraine,” is one of the most vocal lawmakers scrutinizing the tens of billions in military aid the U.S. government has been sending to Ukraine to help its defense against Russia.

“Whether it’s Zelensky saying he wants our sons and daughters to go die in Ukraine,” she said, drawing boos from the crowd, “whether it’s the San Francisco gay men’s choir literally singing we’re coming for your children, or it’s the new disturbing ideology that tells the most incredible lie that children can actually change their gender,” children need to be protected, she said.

Greene has championed legislation that would audit how the money the U.S. sends to Ukraine is spent. Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said last fall that under his leadership, Ukraine wouldn’t be on the receiving end of any more “blank checks” from the U.S. government.

“I think the U.S. should be pushing for peace, and you find instead funding and continuing a war that seems to be escalating, and putting the entire world at risk of World War III,” Greene told reporters following her CPAC speech on Friday. “The funding should stop. I believe it should stop now. We’re giving $1 billion a month just supporting the Ukrainian government.”

She continued, “Look, I voted for the resolution to support the Ukrainian people and against what Russia has done invading their country. But what the United States is doing is we are actually accelerating the war there. And this war should be over. We should be promoting peace.”

She said public support for military aid is waning, a claim backed up by a recent Associated Press poll showing that 48% of the public supported such aid to Ukraine in January, compared to 60% back in May.
