Walmart responded to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) accusations that the retail giant was “grooming” children Wednesday, explaining that sex toys had been placed next to children’s products in one of its stores by “mistake.”

Greene raged against the retail giant last week, posting photos on Twitter from her constituents showcasing the sex toy product placement while demanding the company take action. Walmart refrained from commenting on the accusation of grooming specifically.

“The placement of the product was a mistake and was promptly corrected at the store,” Walmart said in a statement to the Washington Examiner.

The congresswoman claimed many of her constituents contacted her about the product placement situation, which took place at a Walmart store in Dalton, Georgia.

“They’re extremely upset and absolutely horrified that sex toys are being sold openly right next to children’s toothbrushes! This is grooming,” Greene tweeted. “Selling sex toys openly where children are exposed to them is wrong, inappropriate, immoral, indecent, perverted, shameful, and incredibly harmful to children.”

“I sincerely hope this is not common product placement in your stores and that the employees responsible will be reprimanded. I do not believe this repulsive grooming represents Walmart,” she added.

Over recent months, many conservatives have fretted about the alleged grooming of children, in which adults cultivate a relationship with them to exploit later.

At a New York Young Republican Club’s gala, Greene lamented the widespread availability of sex toys at major retail stores — a sentiment that has been echoed by other prominent conservative figures such as Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

“You can pick up a butt plug or a dildo at Target and CVS nowadays,” Greene bemoaned, per Business Insider. “I don’t even know how we got here … this is the state that we’re living in right now.”

Meanwhile, earlier this month on Tucker Carlson Tonight, correspondent Trace Gallagher said one of the show’s producers “happened to notice” that CVS is now selling sex toys.
