Mark Walters, host of Armed American Radio, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI for allegedly providing false embezzlement claims against him in its chatbot, known as ChatGPT.
The claims are an example of “hallucinations,” which means false statements made by the technology. An editor from a gun publication researched a case using ChatGPT and came across the embezzlement claims generated against Walters.
While there are no concerns of this being intentional, Walters’s attorney said this process has been “embarrassing” for his client since he never embezzled money from the Second Amendment Foundation, as ChatGPT claimed. The case could go to trial.
