A raid on a Pennsylvania farm could affect more than just one food supplier and its customers. Some see the case as having implications for the food freedoms of the entire nation.
On Jan. 4, in Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania, an Amish farmer named Amos Miller had his place raided by authorities. A subsequent hearing involving Miller’s farm taking place on Thursday could determine aspects of the future of raw dairy consumption.
Miller said his mission is to provide “nutrient-dense, chemical, and cruelty-free foods, grown according to God’s law.” He explains that some use it as medicine since nutrient-dense foods can be healing to the body. Miller has more than 2,000 members who purchase raw dairy products and other natural groceries, such as maple syrup and granola, from his farm.
However, the Food and Drug Administration doesn’t regulate his dairy products, so his farm has been on high alert to authorities.
Dr. Jack Wolfson, a cardiologist, has been a customer of Miller’s raw dairy products for years. He will be an expert witness testifying on Thursday.
“You know, we’ve been raw dairy consumers for many years; we’ve enjoyed it for, you know, close to, again, 20 years, and a lot of that time has been from Miller’s organic farm,” Wolfson explained. “So we believe in the health benefits of raw dairy for ourselves as adults and also for our children.”
Wolfson believes this case is part of a bigger picture regarding a warning for the freedoms of our food supply.
“But what the government is trying to do in this particular case, and in many others, is to shut down this raw dairy,” Wolfson said. “So they and their corporations that they serve have total control over our food supply.”
While a prior case against Miller was dismissed in 2023, some claimed this latest search warrant was obtained through previous unverified allegations of foodborne illnesses.
Wolfson believes this latest raid was a violation of the Fourth Amendment.
“I mean, it’s a problem,” he exclaimed. “It’s clear government overreach is what the government is trying to do to infringe on our rights under the guise of safety. No one’s asking for this. If you don’t want to drink raw dairy, don’t drink raw dairy. Don’t use raw dairy if you don’t want raw kefir, raw butter, raw milk.”
As a cardiologist, Wolfson boasts of the many benefits of healthy animal products, including raw dairy.
“So we do know again that it’s great for gut health; gut health leads to total body health,” Wolfson explained. “We know that raw dairy helps to lower blood pressure helps with inflammation, oxidative stress lowers things like allergies, and other allergic diseases, things like eczema. And we know that people with asthma, eczema or other of these childhood diseases have a much higher risk of cardiovascular disease as adults.”
The FDA issued a warning against raw dairy products and claims it can carry dangerous bacteria, which can lead to food poisoning.
“As far as the risks, the risks are very minimal. And the early 1900s. There were very unhealthy practices that were being done in Chicago stockyards, places like that, where animals were sick animals. Now we’re talking about healthy animals, the raw dairy producers; they do it the right way. And that leads to the best health outcomes for all of us,” Wolfson said.
The cardiologist said he believes this case affects everyone, even those who don’t consume raw dairy products. He believes every American should be able to have the right to make their own choice about the foods they consume and what they put in their bodies.

“So the most important thing, again, is let people decide, let the people do their investigation at will decide what’s best for us, and keep the government out of our house, out of our dinner plates and out of our beverages,” Wolfson said.
Wolfson remained optimistic about the hearing and said he hopes the truth prevails.
