Conservative leaders on what role faith plays in politics

.

The Washington Examiner asked several leaders at the Road to Majority Conference how faith plays a role in their politics.

“If you go back and you look at the history of our country, faith played a major role,” Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) said. “Not only with the faith of the founders, but the way they set our government up.”

The Washington Examiner also spoke with John DeBerry Jr., a senior adviser to Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN). His answer loosely referenced the biblical parable of the Wise and the Foolish Builders found in Matthew 7.

“My faith is the foundation of everything I do,” DeBerry said. “You can’t build a house without a foundation.”

“It guides everything I do,” said Tony Sabio, who is running to represent Virginia’s 8th Congressional District in the House. “Everything comes from servant leadership.”

The Road to Majority Conference is put on by the Faith and Freedom Coalition. A variety of speakers from Sen. Dave McCormick (R-PA) to Tom Homan, Trump’s “border czar,” spoke on Friday and Saturday morning. The conference seeks to empower conservative activists to fight for their faith in the public square.

The battle for the culture is just heating up, but these leaders are ready to lead the charge.
