JD Vance’s biscuit-making video with daughter gets mixed reviews on X

.

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance uploaded a video of him making Christmas biscuits with his daughter on X, which was met with positive and negative comments on social media.

Vance was joined in the video by his daughter, Mirabel, saying his youngest child is “always my sous chef.” During their baking, the incoming vice president contended that biscuit-making has become “a lost art” within the United States, and argued that every family ought to have biscuits as part of their Christmas dinner.

Despite the mostly positive reception, the video also raised some criticism, specifically due to Vance’s “shockingly bad aesthetic judgment” for his appearance in a shirt and jeans.

“Crazy to appear like this as an incoming VP, especially as a relatively inexperienced political figure introducing himself to the nation,” a user on X wrote. “Terrible millennial instinct for casual, relatable presentation over conveying authority.”

This assessment was widely rebuked by other social media users, with one arguing Vance was simply “being himself” in the video.

Others who praised the video included X owner Elon Musk, who responded with a smiling emoji, and the Washington Examiner’s Salena Zito, who responded to it with a heart emoji.

Ahead of Vance and President-elect Donald Trump being sworn into office on Jan. 20, Trump advisers Chris LaCivita and Tony Fabrizio detailed how Vance is viewed by the incoming president as a “torch-carrier” to keep Trump’s movement going even after he finishes his second term. They also detailed how Trump and Vance have “a really good personal relationship.”
