WATCH: California parents fight Gov. Newsom’s SAFETY Act

Parents throughout the state of California are fighting back against Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s (D-CA) SAFETY Act, which is set to go into effect on Jan. 1, 2025.

Assembly Bill 1955 essentially allows students to declare a different gender identity to their teachers. These are considered to be private discussions in which the parents are not notified.

“So if you’re 6 years old and you think you are a boy, when you’re genetically a girl, and you go to your counselor, that’s something that we should have to work on,” said Jim Miller Jr., the president of the Cajon Valley Union School District’s Board of Trustees.

Miller created the Parental Bill of Rights to empower parents while setting boundaries for teachers and administrators.
