The employee was rushed to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition, according to the Miami Herald. The shooter fled the scene and is at large.
According to a police report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooter, a man, was in the drive-thru when he was informed the restaurant was out of corn, resulting in the would-be shooter making violent threats through the speaker box. He then pulled forward to the drive-thru window and brandished a gun, making additional threats.
A 25-year-old employee exited the building and went out to the man’s car to confront him. The customer then shot the employee in the abdomen before speeding off.
The shooter faces first-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon, police said.
